The Future of the Future - Three Deep Dives With Jerome Glenn and Rohit Talwar
Sat 14 Jun 2025 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM
International Centre for Sustainability, EC3R 8EE
The UK Node of The Millennium Project and Fast Future invite you to take part in this deep dive into the future, with three separately bookable sessions on different aspects of what could lie ahead.
We are scheduling this event at short notice to take advantage of a flying visit to the UK from Jerome (Jerry) Glenn - the Founder and Executive Director of The Millennium Project (MP) - a highly respected global participatory think-tank. Jerry is widely recognised both as a pioneer of modern day futures thinking and as one of the most prominent thought leaders in the field today. The session will be jointly facilitated by Jerry and Rohit Talwar of Fast Future - Co-chair of the MP's UK Node, who was recently ranked as one of the Top 3 Global Futurists for 2025.
Each session is outlined below. The venue is kindly being hosted by the International Centre for Sustainability in their beautiful City of London venue. Places for each session are strictly limited, so early booking is recommended.
10.00-12.00 - State of the Future 20.0 (£10.00 + £1 Transaction fee)
This session will present and discuss key issues and opportunities for the future of humanity presented in the recently released State of the Future 20.0. This is a 500-page magnum opus that provides a broad, detailed, and readable look at the issues and opportunities that could lie ahead, and what we should know today to avoid the worst and achieve the best for the future of civilization. Compiled by The Millennium Project, the study distils insights from countless third party research reports, input from hundreds of futurists and related experts around the world, and 70 of the MP's own futures research reports. The study covers topics ranging from new paradigm thinking on international relations; future issues and management of artificial general intelligence (AGI); future possibilities for the UN and global governance; work, life, and robots in 2050; and much, much more.
14.00-16.00 - The Future of AI: Issues, Opportunities, and Geopolitical Synergies (£10.00 + £1 Transaction fee)
As Chair of the High-Level AGI Expert Panel of the UN Council of the President of the General Assembly, Jerry will share the latest MP thinking on artificial narrow intelligence (ANI) and AGI and its recommendations for the UN, the current status of global AI governance discussions and strategies, and pending issues. This deep dive discussion will then explore the extraordinary opportunities and catastrophic threats presented by AGI in particular, and how to address them nationally and internationally.
17.00-19.00 - The Future - Where Next? Discussion of the MP's 15 Global Challenges and related futures concepts and methods. (£10.00 + £1 Transaction fee)
The session will start with a brief overview of the MPs work on the current global situation, future prospects, and rapidly evolving challenges. Together we will discuss a broad range of futures concepts (such as current political threats and synergic geo-politics for US-China), and futures research methods (such as how scenarios are misused and how to know if the future is getting better or worse on a global basis).

Dining Options
There are plenty of places nearby to purchase and consume food and drink between sessions. Water will be available in the venue. Our apologies in advance, but one of our conditions of usage is that absolutely no food or drink can be bought into the facility, and anyone doing so will be asked to leave immediately with no refund of their attendance fee and will also receive the sternest look that Rohit can muster at that time.
We will also be holding more informal and reasonably priced dinners with Jerry on Friday June 13th at 7.30pm in Golders Green and on Saturday June 14th at 7.30pm somewhere near the event venue. Please email rohit@fastfuture.com if you'd like to attend one or both of these.
Jerome (Jerry) C. Glenn co-founded and directs The Millennium Project, a leading global participatory think tank with over 70 Nodes around the world. He is assisting the UN Council of Presidents of the General Assembly on its role in governance of AGI. He is author/editor of a forthcoming publication on Global Governance of AGI (De Gruyter), lead author of both the State of the Future 20.0 and Future Work/Tech 2050: Scenarios and Actions, and co-editor with Ted Gordon of Futures Research Methodology 3.0. Jerry has directed over 80 futures research projects and is a member of the IEEE SA P2863 Organizational Governance of AI working group.
Jerry invented the Futures Wheel foresight technique and a range of other concepts including conscious-technology, TransInstitutions, tele-nations, management by understanding, the self-actualization economy, feminine brain drain, and definitions of environmental security and collective Intelligence. He sent his first email in 1973, wrote about information warfare in the late 1980s, and in the mid-1980s he was instrumental in getting x.25 packet switching in developing countries - which was key to their later getting low-cost access to the Internet. Jerry was instrumental in naming the first Space Shuttle (the Enterprise) and banning the first space weapon (FOBS) in the strategic arms limitations talks (SALT II). He has published over 400 future-oriented articles, been cited 3,810 times (Google Scholar), spoken to over 1000 organizations globally, and written several books (Future Mind, Linking the Future, and co-author of Space Trek: The Endless Migration).
Rohit Talwar was recently ranked in the top three of the Global Gurus Top 30 futurist ratings for 2025. He is the CEO of Fast Future, delivering award-winning keynote speeches, executive education, foresight research, consultancy, and coaching. Rohit has delivered over 2000 speeches, workshops, and consulting assignments for clients in 80+ countries across six continents. He is the co-author and lead editor of nine books and over 50 reports on the emerging future, and appears regularly on TV, webinars, podcasts, and in print media around the world.
Rohit helps clients understand and respond to critical forces and developments shaping the future – ranging from geo-political and economic shifts through to sustainability, ’corporation zero’ thinking, and disruptive technologies such as AI. He has a particular focus on enabling clients to build ‘ready for anything’ leadership mindsets and capabilities so they can embrace disruption and thrive in a complex, fast changing world, and an uncertain future. Rohit is currently completing a major study on harnessing creativity, alternative learning formats, AI, and AGI to deliver exceptional event experiences in the future. His current core research focus is on how AI/AGI could enable the transformation of money and financial services and what this could mean for how we live, work, run businesses, govern nations, manage economies, and help ensure social cohesion.
